Most people who come to Lake Tahoe, come for the outdoor activities. In one day at the lake you can ski, boat, hike, snowshoe,
kayak, ice skate, go exploring or do some swimming or even some
SCUBA diving.
Some of the best active things to do at Tahoe is
kayaking from Lester Beach to Emerald Bay or around
Sand Harbor or
King's Beach. If you want to be in the water, do some swimming at Sand Harbor, the
Lake Tahoe State Park or on
Nevada Beach.
If you want to get away from the water, lace up your hiking boots and head to the hiking areas of
Desolation Wilderness,
Mt. Rose,
Mt. Tallac or the
Tahoe Rim Trail. For some easier hikes, try the
Galena Creek Trail, the
Ophir Creek Trail, the trails around
Donner Lake or even the
bike and pedestrian walking paths near Tahoe City or South Lake Tahoe.
Other active sports that you may not expect include ice skating at
Squaw Valley's High Camp or the
South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena,
parasailing on the North Shore, sailing on the
Woodwind I or renting jetskis at
Camp Richardson.
