Futaleufú is as a small town (population around 2,000) in the Lake District of Patagonian Chile. It is just over the Argentine border, 7.5 miles, 12 kms from the town of Trevelin.
Futaleufú is famous among whitewater paddlers and rafters around the world for the river that gives the town its name, Rio Futaleufú. The "Futa," as it's known locally, is--along with the Zambezi in Uganda and the Grand Canyon in the US--the largest commercial rafted whitewater in the world.
