Where to Get a Beer in Bryce Canyon
Description:
Utah has a colorful history of telling its residents and visitors what to do. Liquor laws certainly have reflected this stern attitude! But in the last decade, and even more in the past few years, the laws surrounding alcoholic beverages have loosened up in response to public nudging (and, possibly, eye-rolling). Long story short: you can indeed quaff a nice brew or sip a glass of house red at Bryce Canyon. The trick is knowing where to go. We're up to the challenge of giving you the skinny on where to get a beer in (and near) Bryce Canyon.

Day 1 - Bryce Canyon National Park
Honest truth: finding an alcoholic drink in the area just surrounding Bryce Canyon isn't easy. Your best bet might be picking up liquor in St. George or Salt Lake City before you arrive at Bryce. However, you do have a few local options. The Lodge at Bryce Canyon is located right inside the Park itself. They serve beer and wine a well as a sustainable menu culled from local growers. The Cowboy's Buffet, outside Bryce Canyon, is a true Western dining experience, complete with hearty ales to wash down the equally hearty food. Clarke's restaurant, also outside the Park, has really huge food portions to accompany their beer selection. Cheers!

Day 2 - Bryce Canyon National Park
If you're heading east from Bryce Canyon (typical of the Grand Circle loop tour that most visitors do), you drive right through Escalante. Cowboy Blues, 40 miles east of Bryce Canyon, touts the "best margaritas in town," as well as beer, wine, and other spirits. In the middle of town you'll find Esca-Latte Internet Cafe, which doubles as home to Escalante Canyon Outfitters, as well as being the town's official state-sanctioned liquor outlet. Got that? In a nutshell, you can get hiking pants, a bottle of wine, great pizza, and enjoy a local brew (try the Vagabond Ale) on their outside deck. If you keep heading east, you'll zip through tiny Boulder, the last town in the lower 48 States to get its mail by mule train (it did so through the 1940s). It's home to the completely unexpected Hell's Backbone Grill, a truly superb dining place that offers a huge selection of wines and plenty of beer as well. Bottoms up!

Day 3 - Springdale, Zion National Park
If you visit Bryce Canyon, it's most likely you'll be visiting Zion as well. With its proximity to Springdale and St. George, Zion's bar and restaurant choices are far greater than in Bryce. Take a gander at the drinks menu one of these local places. You probably won't be disappointed.
