Some of the best things for kids to do in Zion include hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, canyoneering, even viewing an IMAX movie! Of course, a kid's idea of a fun hike might vary depending on the kid. So there are short hikes, medium-length hikes, and long hikes in this list. But we think they're all pretty cool for kids.
Angels Landing and the Zion Narrows are perhaps Zion's two mosts well-known and beloved hikes. Getting to the sky-kissing top of Angels Landing, or wading up the Virgin River through the sometimes arms'-length crevice of the Narrows can put a lot of hip hiking cred into a kid's pocket. For Angels Landing, just make sure your kdis are old enough to handle the long uphill hike as well as be safe up on top.
The local guiding outfits offer kid-friendly guides who are knowledgeable about both the activity and the area, as well as knowing how to handle energetic kids. We really like the outgoing personality of Zion Adventure Company guides.
For younger or less adventurous children, the Junior Ranger program is a genuinely interesting, hands-on activity choice. The program centers on 6- to 12-year-olds, but those under six can be Junior Ranger Helpers.
And we know you're thinking that a movie is a strange thing to suggest as a good activity for kids when visiting a national park. The IMAX theater in Springdale, however, screens movies that are chock-full of information about the geographic history of Zion.
