Zihuatanejo Cooking School is a new addition to local things to do but the flavors will be very familiar to anyone who has visited Zihuatanejo before. Host, Patsy Cummings, founded Coconuts Restaurant with her husband in 1979 and nurtured it to be a Zihua staple. After selling the restaurant last year, she has now brought her favorite recipes home.The classes are held at Casa Luna, a spacious and elegant private house on Playa la Ropa that is hidden within an acre of lush tropical gardens. Students are encouraged to stroll the grounds and sip coffee while watching the hummingbirds before diving into chopping, sauteeing and, of course, eating!
With Chef Santiago, Patsy will guide you through the preparation of a four course meal that takes advantage of local herbs and produce, the steady supply of seafood available fresh from the bay and the rich culinary traditions of Mexico.
