Who says a vacation has to be all "me, me, me"? Consider taking some time to volunteer at the local humane society to give some much needed TLC to abandoned and abused animals. The "Sociedad Protectora de Animales de Zihuatanejo" (SPAZ) provides shelter, food, medical treatment and sterilization to the abandoned and neglected animals in the area, even providing twice yearly free sterilization clinics.Contact SPAZ to inquire about current volunteer opportunities. If you're going to take a walk on the beach anyway, why not take a dog awaiting adoption with you? If you're pressed on time and can't volunteer, consider stopping by Casa Marina (SPAZ is located above the Casa Marina shops) and purchasing one of their logo t-shirts. All of the proceeds benefit SPAZ and they make great souvenirs and gifts!
