La Saladita is the local sweet spot for longboard surfers, located 40 kilometers north of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo a few minutes beyond Troncones on Highway 200. There is a left break that has drawn hardcore surfers for years and now has become a community jewel. There are a few shack-style beachfront restaurants, surfboard and equipment rentals and limited bungalow rentals. For those willing to get down and dirty, or rather sandy, there is also beach camping spots.For shortboard enthusiasts, "the Ranch" is 15 minutes down the road with great waves. Both La Saladita and the Ranch have decent swells yearround, with some of the best waves in all of Mexico.
