Zihua Pancake House became a busy breakfast spot quickly after opening in 2007, mostly in part to its niche campaign to be "the only pancake house with a cocktail lounge." The bloody marys and mimosas (as well as beer, tequila shots and more) are a popular pick me up, especially for those coming off a late night of partying. However, the broad menu with many customization options is even more appreciated, especially with families who have picky eaters.The eggs benedict comes in its traditional form with ham and hollandaise sauce but also can have spinach or mushrooms added. The titular pancakes are available in regular or whole wheat, with half a dozen toppings and, for the kids, as a teddy bear complete with chocolate chip smile. Breakfast sandwiches and brunch salads all have multiple ingredient selections and if you don't see what you want in the plate descriptions, there is also an a la carte menu to pick and choose from. Even the side of potatoes can come as traditional hash browns or roasted potatoes with rosemary and carrots.
The service here is notably slow but there are free refills on the coffee and a lot of local gossip going around the tables to keep you occupied.
