Salvador's
Address:
Calle Adelita
40880 Zihuatanejo, Mexico
Description:
Salvador's might be called a "hole in the wall" restaurant - if it had any walls! With just a cluster of tables and chairs under an awning, there is no ostentation about Salvador's - just hearty, authentic Mexican food, cold beer and tropical mixed drinks. Fishermen can also bring their latest catch for Salvador to prepare and serve fresh off the grill.
Salvador is well known and liked among the neighborhood. His breakfasts shine when he is making traditional Mexican recipes such as huevos rancheros. For lunch and dinner, Salvador fires up the grill to cook fish, steaks and hamburgers along with other local favorites. Seafood enthusiasts should note there are both fresh shrimp tacos and
camaronillas -- shrimp mixed with tomatoes, cheese and spices, then wrapped in tortillas and deep fried. Consider forgetting the diet for the night and order the camaronillas. If you're feeling too guilty, you can place an order to share but you'll probably want the whole plate to yourself once you try one. The chicken enchilades verde are a savory mix of creamy and spicy while the guacamole has a
picante kick from an abundant use of chiles.
