Description:
Restaurant La Gula is proud to proclaim themselves part of the "slow food" movement that places great emphasis on fresh ingredients, regional cuisine and creating flavor-intense dishes that are truly worth the wait. Just a short stroll over the bridge from Centro, climb up to this second floor restaurant for a beautiful bistro restaurant with elegant decor and intimate touches such as a cooling scent-infused towel upon seating and an
amuse bouche (gift from the chef) brought with the first drinks. Chef/owner José Luis Noriega and his wife, Rosalba Garcia, are constantly revising their broad menu to reflect the local seasonable options as well as gourmet trends. José Luis often spends the low season attending gastronomical conventions and competitions to learn new concepts and techniques. This commitment shows in the impeccable platings for each course but more importantly, in the evolution of new Mexican dishes that embrace spice, savory and sweet in each bite. Favorites include a shrimp and Oaxaca cheese empanada topped with a pineapple-ginger chutney and a filet mignon with coffee sauce. And of course, with a name that translates to "gluttony" La Gula has two menu options that include shrimp wrapped in bacon! If that isn't enough indulgence, round out your dinner with one of the "Seven Sins" dessert options. You may feel a bit guilty in the morning but you'll know why La Gula has served as the cornerstone of the Calle Adelita "
Corridor Gastronomica."
