While watching the action on the busy Avenida Cinco de Mayo, you can casually eat from Caprichos' new breakfast and lunch menus that emphasize American standards such as pancakes and sandwiches as well as a few Mexican favorites like chiliquiles and tortilla soup.The close relationship Caprichos shares with local wine shops is evident not only in its expansive wine list but also in its frequent wine tasting events. The bar, however, is just one half of Caprichos Grill House. Pass through the corridor to the back courtyard and you'll wonder if you've left Zihuatanejo all together. With wrought iron tables and chairs, bubbling fountains and star lights floating from the trees, the candlelit garden seems world away from the bustle of the street and from the sandy beaches.
Dinner service highlights the flavors of the grill that the restaurant was founded on with everything from vegetables to local panela cheese to steak to freshly caught tuna taking on the subtle smoky flavors of carbon mesquite. Off the grill, Caprichos strives to take familiar Mexican recipes and add a gourmet twist.
