The Best Yosemite Eats
Description:
Most people aren't coming to Yosemite specifically for the food, but that doesn't mean you can't dine well. From the world-class to the startling, you can do much better than John Muir's diet of bread and tea. The Ahwahnee's dining room is high-class, expensive, delicious and a remarkable dramatic setting; few restaurants have so many diners bringing their cameras to their tables. At the opposite end of the ambiance spectrum is the surprising Whoa Nellie Deli within the Mobil Mart in Lee Vining; live music, friendly folks, an astonishing menu and truly great food, all hidden in a gas station with a nice lawn overlooking Mono Lake. The Mountain Room is the Ahwahnee's glamorous kid sister, with a fine view of Yosemite Falls through immense windows. The broadly cherished Bug Hostel has a casual, communal feel to it, with yummy meals to match the international clientele. Isolated White Wolf Lodge, high along the Tioga Road is a delightful discovery with a small dining room and a nice, sunny porch for watching deer and birds while starting your day with pancakes or concluding a hike with a hearty steak.
