Yosemite has a long history of promoting winter sports in the West, and the skating rink at Curry Village is a part of that venerable tradition. Usually open between November and March this rink is outdoors under an open sky so you can see the surroundings of Yosemite Valley's granite walls towering overhead. The stars at night add spectacle to the setting.The shuttle bus stops right at the rink and you can rent skates right there. Bundle up with your mittens, long johns and a warm hat, but if you get cold, take a break and warm up next to the blazing fire in the outdoor fireplace. A few laps around this wintery rink make a memorable Yosemite experience for an off-season visit.
