The hike to Hardin Lake is highly recommended as a loop trail.
Description:
Quiet and out of the way, the historic White Wolf Lodge consists of a central dining room/office, a bathroom/showerhouse and a small number of simple tent cabins. The location is choice, off of the Tioga Road, near trails to mid-elevation lakes, views and the long descent to the main Tuolumne River deep in Pate Valley. Roaming the lodgepole forest and wet meadows for birds and wildflowers is a treat from here. Tenaya Lake and Tuolumne Meadows are a short drive away, up the Tioga Road.
Rangers are based here and lead hikes and campfire programs in the adjacent campground. White Wolf is only open in the summer, shortly after the Tioga Road has been cleared of snow.
