If you have a favourite cocktail, and would like to enjoy it in one of Conde Nast's Top 10 bars of the world, which is located deep inside the cavernous innards of what was once a commercial wharf (since beautifully restored), then this is the place for you. Reason I ask about having an idea upfront about what to drink is that the cocktail list at the Water Bar is thicker than the Tokyo telephone directory.Once you make a selection, look around and appreciate just what the Conde Nast judges noticed. Spacious banquettes amid a sea of plush velvet ottomans, screened alcoves with comfy couches, tall curved curtains of Swarovski crystals. The bar (part of the Blue Hotel) and with a distinctly monotone slate or steely grey color scheme, sits in the middle of a massive atrium, created when the former wharf was exquisitely converted into exclusive waterside apartments (Russell Crowe lives here).
There are exceptional but pricey bar snacks (smoked salmon tartlets, the ubiquitous seasoned calamari). It's slick, it's sleek, it's shiny; it's perfect for a few quick drinks on your way to somewhere else, or perhaps while you're waiting for Russell!
