Winter Park is the sort of neighborhood that many Central Floridians aspire to live in, and its dining scene is just part of the draw. Locals love it because for every chain restaurant there are at least five independently owned, quaint and unique eateries. Park Avenue, with its stroll-able streets is by far the best known dining area and boasts the biggest concentration of restaurants in one spot. Park Plaza Gardens is a favorite for special occasions (the hush-hush chef table experience is superb) and 310 Park South and Spice are adored for their curbside patios. But locals are also loving Circa, tucked away at Park Avenue's north end, thanks to its new live entertainment schedule featuring legendary local crooner Michael Andrew (close your eyes and you'll swear its Frank Sinatra). You'll need to travel a little off the beaten path to find where locals are secretly hiding out. Places like Chez Vincent in Hannibal Square, Rocco's Italian Grille, and The Ravenous Pig are still local best kept secrets. For a super casual, quick bite, nothing beats the Black Bean Deli. Its lunch plates provide a filling and flavorful lunchtime alternative to fast food. For sushi, nothing beats Wazzabi. Their chef rolls, gigantic portions crammed with fresh seafood and slathered with artful sauces, are unforgettable. Finally, for a memorable meal paired with a movie, head to the Enzian, a theater/restaurant combo featuring independent and foreign films. This is an amazing place to chill for a few hours while enjoying a little bit of cultureā¦ and the food is pretty great too.
