Not to be unkind, but West Palm Beach has very little in common with Palm Beach-the neighboring island retreat of the invariably rich and famous. That is, if you don't count blue seas and palm trees. Even so, decidedly more downscale West Palm does have it perks. After all, this city of 85,000 grew out of Henry Flagler's need for a temporary home for the many workers who built and staffed his creation called Palm Beach. As a result, West Palm knows a thing or two about service and evidence of its hospitality can be found in the many lodgings found in the city. So, if you do find yourself in this community 75 miles north of Miami, consider one of the following places to lay your head.
