The mighty Soviet menace held an economic death grip on Warsaw for decades, but after the wall fell in Berlin, it's almost like instant "ON" switch was hit, and the great awakening of a new Poland could begin. This of course included massive economic gains and a new place to house people bringing in money to Warsaw, and now you too can benefit from the Westernization of a city once restricted to ugly grey cement superstructures and bland imagination. Western chains like the Holiday Inn or the Radisson are relatively new company in Warsaw, and along with the luxury storied hotels that were once the main draw in Poland and the hostels that have popped up to accommodate new travelers, experiencing Europe on the cheap.
