Cable Bay features a winery restaurant, wine bar and tasting room set amongst both a vineyard and olive groves. It has spectacular views of the Inner Harbour of the Hauraki Gulf and is just 5 minutes from the passenger ferry terminal at Matiatia. The Waiheke grapes are primarily Pinot Gris and Viogner, but you can sample their full range at all their outlets. The restaurant is top quality and was one of the Finalists for Cuisine Magazine's Restaurant of the Year in 2008. My preference would always be for dinner here, watching the sun slowly set and the view of Auckland disappear.
