There are plenty of restaurants in Vancouver and its surroundings, but if you're staying downtown or spending a lot of time in the downtown core, make sure that you visit these restaurants. All of these restaurants are likely within walking distance of your downtown hotel, or just a short cab or bus ride away.
The Shangri-La Hotel in Vancouver is currently the tallest building in the city and it can be seen from just about anywhere. It exudes style, opulence and grandeur and the in-house restaurant, MARKET by Jean-Georges evokes the very same thing. Whether you're going for cocktails and a nibble, or a full on dining experience, it's the perfect spot for all occasions. If you like truffle, make sure to order their truffle pizza! It's excellent.
There's nothing poor about the Pourhouse in Gastown and after opening, it has quickly become a staple in Vancouver's dining and cocktail scene. The atmosphere is dimly lit, with antique woods, furniture and clean white table linens and there's always an attractive crowd on deck. The menu consists of comfort foods with a classy touch and it's difficult to go wrong with anything on their menu.
Yew inside the Four Seasons lives up to the reputation that the Four Seasons has gained around the world. They always serve up the most fresh and high quality cuisine and the service is some of the best in the city! Be sure to check out their site because they frequently have specials that are worth taking advantage of.
The Refinery is a pleasant gem on the Granville strip. Above Sip restaurant, they have created an environment that nurtures and promotes keeping our earth's health in check. From the in-house filtered water (they don't have bottled water), to the locally sourced ingredients and wines, it's one of the best places to sit down and grab a bite in Vancouver. Their cocktails are also some of the best, if not the best, in Vancouver and they make all of their tinctures in house. Plus, the sleek interior design is easy on the eyes too!
No visit to Vancouver would be complete without a visit to Chambar or it's sister restaurant, Medina Cafe. Go to Medina for breakfast, brunch or lunch and make a trip to Chambar for dinner. The Middle Eastern, French and Portuguese influenced cuisines are always on the mark and you will not be disappointed with your dining experience. Chambar's sexy atmosphere is the perfect place to take your date, while Medina's calming decor is the perfect place to wake up to, over a sumptuous breakfast.
