Description:
Caffè Platti is one of the newest of Torino's historic and well preserved cafes. Establised in 1875 as Liquoreria Platti, the cast iron shop front reflects Turin's industrial past, whilst inside it is opulent, well preserved, Liberty style decor was frequented by intellectuals and statesmen. More recently it was favourite of a certain Gianni Agnelli of FIAT fame and Luigi Lavazza. Today's clientele include some of Turin's glitterati who still enjoy the spacious and charming interior where large embossed mirrors reflect the decorative cream and gilded ceiling onto marble-topped tables. The house specialities include the Chocolate Platti, a hot chocolate drink with Cointreau and orange peel and la Torta Platti, a delicious gianduia chocolate cake accompanied by fresh seasonal fruits. Light lunch with fixed menu is served from 12:00 to 14:30. Aperitivo time is a must, its best to stand at the bar and enjoy your drink whilst marvelling at the array of goodies before you, canapes, pizzette and mouth watering pastries from their own pasticerria next door. Whether its for a coffee, lunch, an apertif or even dinner, this is a place to see and be seen. Dinner is served à la carte from 19:30 to 24:00.
