Many of the clubs and watering holes lie outside of Tunis in the resorts on the outskirts of the city, so if you're down for a night of dancing and drinking till the sun rises over the dunes to the west, your best bet is to get away from the hustle and bustle of Tunis, but that means you should probably stay in the hotel as well so you don't have to straggle back in the middle of the night. This still is an Islamic state under a dictatorship, so the country is hard to liven up to the 21st century, but it is still one of the more liberal Islamic countries in the world in regards to social policy.
