Church & Wellesley
Church & Wellesley - otherwise referred to as "The Village" - is home to Toronto's largest LGBTQ community. Since the early 1980s and the Toronto bathhouse raids, the city's gay population has been moving to, and politically mobilizing (as well as celebrating) in, this neighbourhood. Home to the fabulous, provocative
Buddies in Bad Times Theatre and some of the city's most thriving nightlife, Church and Wellesley is also the site of exciting street events. Offering visitors access to shopping, good food and excellent cafes, this culturally vibrant, progressive neighbourhood is a destination, day and night.
Extending north-south along Church Street between Bloor and College streets, Church and Wellesley is located in the east end of the downtown; it accessible by the Wellesley subway station on the Yonge line.
