Surfing is not one of Thailand's most popular water sports. This is mainly because the waves are not strong enough to provide a significant challenge. On the other hand, that makes the coast of Phuket an ideal destination for beginner surfers: Since the waves are not as strong, there's less risk of injury and more of a chance to have fun and practice your technique. Saltwater Dreaming is a surfing shop that also offers the only official surfing school in Phuket. Surfing is possible in many areas in Phuket, including Nai Harn, Karon beach and Surin beach.
