The Palmach was the elite force of the Hagana founded in May of 1941 to help the British defend what was then Palestine against German armies that were approaching. By 1942, the German threat had ceased and the British ordered the Palmach to be disbanded. It chose, instead, to go underground. It thrived. The Museum tells the whole story of the Palmach and pays tribute to the men and women who served in it.
