This is the only Zoo in Tegucigalpa, it is located in the Paque Naciones Unidas / United Nations Park on top of El Picacho hill. The entrance to the park costs about $1, and includes acces to the Zoo, Botanical Garden, Zen Garden, and the 32m high Christ Statue. The Zoo has many of the animals indigenous to Honduras like monkeys, macaws, parrots, deers, pumas, jaguars, crocodiles among other animals. Even though the zoo doesnt offer an exciting time the surrounding pine forrests and spectacular views of the city make it worthwile, plenty of places to sit down and picnic.In 2011, a beautiful Bengal tiger named Sultan joined the zoo. For many years Sultan was the star in the Mexican "Renato Rey de los Payasos" circus, but retired from the show after injuring his leg in a fight with another tiger.
