Description:

The Yehliu Geopark, loosely translated as "Devil's scape" park, is home to a long stretch of interesting rock formations formed by years of soil erosion. Many of the more distinctive formations have been named by the park staff based on their shapes. Examples include the "Queen's Head," "Sea Candles," "Fairy Shoe," and "Bee Hive."

While not in Taipei proper, this coastal park is easy to reach by car or bus and is well worth a day trip or inclusion in a multi-day excursion along the coast. Stop by the visitor center upon arrival to stow your belongings in a locker and pick up a free guide to the surrounding formations. Keep in mind that climbing on the rocks is frowned upon and swimming in the area is technically prohibited, but not always enforced.
