Description:
Coffee Alley may seem at first glance like just another cafe trying to make money on passable Western food. To an extent, it is. The food is on par but nothing to write home about, but the real draw is the dessert. In Taiwan, waffles are served as dessert rather than breakfast, and Coffee Alley's salted caramel waffles fit the dessert bill perfectly. The fluffy, slightly sweet waffles come with vanilla ice cream, chopped almonds, a heap of whipped cream, and a cup of salty caramel sauce. Equally delectable dessert options include the strawberry mille feuille and the slightly odd but delicious cotton candy with ice cream and espresso. A heaping portion of vanilla ice cream gets topped with an even bigger heap of cotton candy. When you pour a small cup of hot espresso over the top, the cotton candy melts into a sticky, sweet espresso sauce that compliments the ice cream perfectly.
