A relative newcomer to the Hunter with a strong following already, Andrew Margan adheres to a minimalist approach in winemaking: old vines, mature fruit, restrained oak, negligible blending. The wines are distinctive representatives of their origin, and the Botrytis Semillon is a regular award-winner. The Margan tasting room on Hermitage Road in Pokolbin is open Thursday through Monday, but for the full experience visit the winery in Broke. Take the scenic route via Wollombi to Broke, and if you're there on the weekend, save time to enjoy the impressive dining experience at the elegant Margan restaurant, one of the best new restaurants in the Hunter.
