A spin-off of the Well Connected internet cafe in Glebe, this place is so relaxed it is almost asleep. At its best on the weekend, when the tables are covered with relaxing Newtown locals reading the papers and eating fresh breakfasts. The coffee is excellent (of course it is – this is Sydney!) and in the evenings performance evening feature kooky and expressive locals playing instruments with various degrees of skill, reading their poetry, and showing short films. The funky split-level interior is a retro-cool pastiche of turquoise leather armchairs, cherry red lounge suites, chrome tables and a turntable and groovy record collection in the corner. The menu includes wood-fired toast with ricotta and honey, veggie burgers (with or without the bun), and eggs any which way.
