Assiette is one of umpteen Surry Hills Bistros; it is hard to order bad food in Surry Hills, if you have even a modicum of wit to you. That said, even for a Surry Hills bistro Assiette is a winner, coming with a bright young chef and located in a happening, funky part of town. The food is a blend of French, Italian and Asian flavors, with some extravagantly unlikely combinations thrown in just to keep the customers on their toes. It is not for those on a budget (but there are plenty of good places around this area for such folks) it is cheap for what you get. While you are at it, why not have a try of that beetroot sorbet? Or maybe the fig pizza with olive oil ice-cream? Good fun.
