The Caribbean is not only for grown-ups, and St. Thomas proves it with a great range of fun activities for kids. Obviously the beaches are St. Thomas's most kid-friendly attractions, and the island has plenty of them. But there are many other things to keep kids occupied while on the island.
The Skyride to Paradise Point is a bit pricey, but good fun. The cable car makes a 7-minute, 700-foot trip up the side of Flag Hill, giving riders a bird's eye view of Havensight Mall and the adjacent cruise ship docks on the way up. Once you're at the top you get panoramic views of the entire harbor and town while you eat lunch or shop.
Coral World is a 4.5-acre marine park and observatory with an underwater observatory that gives visitors a stay-dry chance to view local marine life such as sea lions, stingrays and sharks. If your kids want to get wet though, they can also do "SNUBA" at Coral World (a cross between snorkeling and scuba diving, which allows you to breathe via a 20-foot hose connected to a tank on the surface).
Other kid-friendly attractions include The Butterfly Farm at the far end of the West Indian Company cruise ship dock, and Solberg Farms, a petting zoo (with emus!) in the hills above Charlotte Amalie. Winners Miniature Golf and Amusements (inside Wyndham Sugar Bay resort) offers not only mini golf, but bumper boats, an arcade, and much more to keep the kiddies occupied.
For kids 10 and over, the underwater scooters at BOSS are great fun and a unique way for those without diving or swimming experience to view the underwater wonders of St. Thomas.
