It's never cheap to import perishables from the mainland and, consequently, island meal prices are often quite high (see: Hawaii) but St. Thomas does a good job of maintaining a range of cheap restaurants for hungry travelers. Fresh seafood tops the menu at the Fish Trap, a venerable Cruz Bay restaurant. Casual and open-air, it's a good choice for families. The Delly Deck is located adjacent to the cruise ship harbor but sees a good crowd of locals stopping by for breakfast and lunch with their daily newspaper. Sitting in the middle of a busy shopping arcade with stores on either side, Cafe Amici is a great place to stop for a quick lunch while you're browsing for that perfect gift to take home. Equator, located at the tony Caneel Bay Resort, offers excellent food at a fair price and is also one of the most romantic dining spots in St. John. Wherever you point your flipflops, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the island's many options for affordable dining.
