St. Petersburg Attractions

Surrounded by crystalline waters with the occasional dolphin, it's no surprise that St. Petersburg things to do often focus on the water, as tours take to the seas. Peter and Paul Cathedral is a monumental belfry, with its spire topped by an angel bearing a cross and is one of St. Petersburg's most distinctive landmarks. Nevskii Prospekt is a grand-scale thoroughfare that forms a spine with many canals appearing as spindly but graceful ribs. The mighty Aleksandrovskaia Kolonna (Alexander Column) cut from a giant granite monolith with a bronze base, cap, bas-reliefs and a sculpture on top, was put on Palace Square in memory of victory in the war of 1812.
