Even though St. John is more laid back than St. Thomas or St. Croix, it doesn't mean you won't have any nightlife. To the contrary, a great bar to visit on St. John is The Tap Room in Cruz Bay where everyone should try their famous Tropical Mango Pale Ale. Another local hangout in Cruz Bay is Woody's Seafood Saloon where you can enjoy a draft beer (or three), and for a more relaxed atmosphere head over to the Quiet Mon Pub. Coral Bay offers up Shipwreck Landing, an inviting open air bar/restaurant with live music. Skinny Legs bar and grill, and the Island Blues Seaside Bar and Grill also offer live music most nights of the week.
