While it's easy to spend an entire day at Pike Place Market, at some point you might start hunting for something else to do. With an incredibly compact downtown area, Seattle has several things for visitors to do near the market.
One of the many ways to get down to the Waterfront is an elevator right in Pike Place Market. Head down, cross Alaskan Way and stroll the boardwalks. There's a fun arcade for kids, plenty of restaurants and an antique market, not to mention the always-fun "Ye Olde Curiosity Shop." This is also the place to catch a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island, a water taxi to Alki beach or a classy dinner on the Sound with Argosy Cruises.
If it's more high-end shopping you're looking for, head straight down either Pike or Pine Street from the market and four blocks later find yourself in Westlake Center, surrounded by malls, stores and restaurants. Or take a right down 1st Avenue and stroll to the renowned Seattle Art Museum.
For more educational experiences, the Seattle Bug Safari is a live bug zoo just below the market on Western Avenue. And if you do make it down to the Waterfront, the Seattle Aquarium is a blast for both adults and kids.
