Historic, laid-back and music-laced: it pretty much sums up the bars of Savannah. You won't encounter slick dress codes, too-cool doormen or red rope here. Like the city itself, Savannah's bars are unstuffy, unfluffy and down-to-earth. But if you think that means boring, think again. Bars in Savannah know how to rock, jam and boogie down with the best of them. So make sure to have your dancin' shoes on. Music figures prominently in Savannah life, and this certainly is true for the bars as well. Jazz and blues flow thick at Jazz'd Tapas Bar, while Kevin Barry's Irish Pub pumps out Irish music nightly. DJs get the dance parties started at Hang Fire, and The Jinx offers a little something for everyone, with different music genres featured every night. Some of Savannah's favorite bars double as restaurants. When the kitchen winds downs and lights dim, restaurant bars get cranking. Hands-down locals favorite, the historic building that houses the The Olde Pink House Restaurant offers two choices: an upstairs bar, toting city views, and an intimate downstairs bar. For more great drinks with scrumptious food, check out BBQ joint John Harris Restaurant, beachside North Beach Grill and swanky Georges' of Tybee. Beer lovers should be sure not to miss the frothy brews at Molly MacPherson's Pub, where traditional fish and chips make the perfect accompaniment. For a beer with a history-back, stop into Churchill's Pub, Savannah's oldest bar. As Savannah's only microbrewery, Moon River Brewing Company is a must for beer fans. But for a real taste of Savannah, you've got to go where the locals go. Pinkie Master's Lounge is a classic, down-to-earth Savannah bar, with a jukebox, cheap drinks and a diverse range of clientele. The alcohol-infused Slurpies at Wet Willie's draws a young, hip crowd, while Bay Street Blues offers fun of all kinds, from karaoke night to open mics to pool tables.
