Description:
The concept of Spicy Chile is a pay-what-you-wish tour. They meet several times a week at different locations, and the number of people that show up is the number of people that go. There is no need to book in advance. That means the number of people on the tour can vary from about two to about twenty, but the trained guides should be able to deal with that with no problem.
This tour starts with a walk through the Vega, the market where many Santiaguinos buy fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and staples on a weekly basis. There is a stop for a snack, a mote con huesillo (a local drink) and/or an empanada (not included). From here, you walk around the Central Market, and through a local church, while the guide tells you about the city, and specifically the part of the city you are in. The tour ends in front of La Piojera, should you wish to enter and drink a terremoto, one of the (disputed) national drinks of Chile.
This tour leaves from the exit of the Patronato metro (yellow line). Take the left hand exit when you arrive at the ticket booth level. The meeting place is outside of the BCI bank. This tour leaves Tues, Thurs and Sat at 10:00 AM and lasts three hours (or less).
