Description:

A quinta is a measure of land, and Quinta Normal comprises a measure of 40 treed and green acres of land that many Santiaguinos use as their own backyard. Naturalist Claudio Gay, the first director of the park saw to it that the area was well-planted, and there are native and imported species in the park, including several small gardens. The rest of the park has paths for cycling, walking and other activities, and there are a few examples of old architecture, including the neoclassical Natural History museum, construction on which was started in 1875.

Children and train lovers will love the outdoor train museum, and the Science and Technology museum is also located here, and just to the back exit is the very child-friendly Artiquín, a hands-on arts center with projects for children housed in a colorful, glassed-in building.

The busiest times at the park are on the weekends, when you can also find lots of street food for purchase at the entrance of the park outside the metro of the same name (green line).
