NileGuide Expert tip:
Come to see films on Wednesdays, when movie tickets cost just 1500 CLP (around three dollars).
Description:
Centro Arte Alameda has several parts, including the Cine (movie) part, where independent and foreign films are often shown. Recent shows have included a documentary about independent pioneer women in their 80s in the south of Chile and a local band's first cut of their documentary film. The space also offers a café, a place to sit and talk before the movie and/or view local art exhibitions. Upstiars, there is a smallish music venue (max capacity probably around 300) for intimate concerts, usually featuring local bands. This space is called El Ex-Living.
Films are shown every day of the week, with Wednesday offering a special price at just 1500 CLP. Residents of Santiago Centro who can prove that they live there can join Cine y Barrio and pay just 1,000 CLP per entry.
There is bicycle parking at the Centro Arte Alameda, and it is also easily metro and bus accessible, at the Universidad Católica or Baquedano Metros, just steps from the Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral (GAM)
