Though it might seem hard to believe, this small, informal chain has been serving vegetarian food in Chile since 1927. In that time, the menu has undergone some changes, as different foods have become available, and I'm quite certain they didn't serve their famous carrot.orange juice back in the 1920s.The restaurant, located on the pedestrian street of Huérfanos, fills up awith a line out the door at lunchtime, and with good reason. The food is fresh, made-to order they sever specialties such as pastel de choclo (sort of like a shepherd's pie with corn on top, instead of potatoes, this normally has meat but is prepared vegetarian here) in its terra cotta dish, as well as "rustic mushtrooms," an entire bowl of delicious suateéd mushrooms. They also serve a breaded and pan-fried fresh cheese with spinach pureé and many kinds of salads, including an antipasto salad with lots of cheese (your choice) an egg-based tart with onions in it, and hearts of palm.
Desserts include cheesecake, a viennese cappuccino (with cream on top) and yogurt with honey for the more whole-foods oriented.
