Description:
Cosmopolitan Bar, owned by the owners of Baires, across the street sits just a few steps from Plaza Brasil but feels like it's in another part of the city. It's wallpapered in pink stripes, has comfy chairs and low tables and serves tasty tapas of
papas bravas (potato wedges) and sauteéd mushrooms, and you can build your own platter of "
montaditos," little haystacks of appetizers all on a plate. It also has a nice wine list, good beer and more space per table (and higher prices) than are usual in this part of town, but that are still more than affordable on most travelers' budget. The tapas are hearty, and start at $2500 CLP (about $5 US) and a beer costs about the same, including some of Chile's finer craft beers such as Mestra and Kross.
There are two spaces in the back that are sometimes available for birthday parties, and marble floors and high ceilings throughout. You can get a view into the gleaming kitchen if you like, or stay up front by the bar to see and be seen.
