A medium-sized café that takes Santiago by storm, especially when Santiago consists of American and other Englihs-speaking expats, who fill up the place most times of the day. What Café Melba offers is simply good food, with an American bent. There are breakfasts with waffles, pancakes, omleettes and fruit, and bigger meals for lunch and later in the day, incñuding seasonal pasta, meat and seafood dishes.. The owner is a Kiwis who has proven her mettle in the gastronomical circles of Chile, and serves ond of the best cups of coffee (try the flat white) in the city.
For breakfast and brunch, Café Melba is pretty much the only game in town, but the food is good enough that nobody has any complaints. Though you can have to wait for a table at busy times. Pleasant shaded, outdoor seating area in the treed, upper-class area of El Golf/Las Condes. There is WiFi, of course.
