NileGuide Expert tip:
Try the Michelada, a Mexican-style beer with a hefty dose of lemon juice and a squirt of tabasco.
Description:
Baires is a bar, with a good mixed drinks and beer selection, that also happens to serve some of the best sushi in the neighborhood. It's a big space with tables with comfy chairs that you'll sink into. Baires has a vibe, and it's young but not college-aged, lively but not too loud.
There are sandwiches and tablas (large appetizer plates to share), but the shining star here (aside from the excellent micheladas) is the sushi. It's typical Chilean sushi, with a lot of tempura, salmon, avocado and cream cheese, but what they do, they do well. They also have several Chilean craft beers available.
Prices are reasonable, and there's a giant indoor area to sit in, or you can choose one of a few tables outside. The place runs until well after midnight, so if you've got a sushi hankering that must be sated, at most hours of the day, Baires is your place.
