Approaching the Ritz-Carlton in Santiago from the outside, it looks almost plain. It's located in the Sanhattan (Manhattan-like) area of Santiago in Las Condes, where glass buildings are the norm, so its classic exterior doesn't exactly pop. But its exterior conceals what is considered a top luxury hotel, with an intimate feel for guests, due to a superior staff. Don't be fooled by the fact that its location in Santiago makes this Ritz one of the more economical properties, not a detail has been overlooked.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable, almost quaint, with top-of-the-line beds and linens and (some) have spectacular views. A rooftop gym under a glass dome gives the dogged exercisers among us plenty to look at, from views of the city to views of the Andes. Massages are offered, as well as a bath butler, who can draw you a perfect themed bath, including one with wine.
Even non-guests of the hotel can come and enjoy the spacious lobby with its two-story atrium with access to the lounge and wine bar with a very good wine list. Occasional cocktail hours draw guests and the Santiago hoi-polloi.
The hotel is well-located just steps from the red line of the metro, which serves downtown, very close to the financial heart of Santiago, and close to shopping, cafés and good restaurants.
