Downtown Santiago has plenty in it to keep you busy for a long day, or more humanely, spread out over a couple of days. On hot summer days you'll want to stop for a mote con huesillo, and in the winter, for a cozy cup of (real) coffee somewhere. Between historical buildings, iconic landmarks, an interesting hill, tours, secret corners, important churches and tasty restaurants and great ice cream, walk for as long as your feet will take you and then take the convenient, fast, modern metro back to your hotel.
