Bellas Artes is a great place to stay if you're looking for proximity to the metro, easy museum access, a place that's close to downtown and has tons of cafés, people watching and is close to a great park for running. Every evening the sidewalks fill up with Santiaguinos walking their dogs, windowshopping, and dining out with friends. The neighborhood is just a few steps from Parque Forestal, which is a good place to go for a run, to take kids to the playground or engage in some serious people-watching.
In this neighborhood there are both hostels and three star hotels, with something to suit those who want to stark privacy of their own room (or shared with friends) and a glassed-in entry to soemthing more communcal for those looking to meet other travelers to explor this great city.
