Eating well in the center of Santiago is done most expensively at lunch time, and strangely, cheaper at dinner, when many of the restaurants have happy hour and dinnertime specials on both drinks and food. The reason fo this is that lunch tends to be the biggest meal of the day, and office workers tend to head home after work, rather than staying downtown to eat. That being said, there are a number of good restaurants worth checking out, both at lunchtime and beyond, which are especially welcome after a long afternoon of taking pictures, checking out he Moneda and other downtown must-sees or simply passing through on your way up to Providencia or down to Barrio Brasil, two neighborhoods where travelers often stay.
