Bars in Barrio Brasil tend to be informal. Most of the nighttime activity in this area consists of sitting at an outdoor bar, sipping glasses served from a liter beer set at the middle of the table. This is how many Santiaguinos spend their Friday and Saturday nights (and sometimes Monday through Friday as well), so if you want to get into the scene, just pop on over and find a table. There are a couple of bars where most of the activity happens inside, or where instead of empanadas and sandwiches you can get sushi or thick sliced fries and fancier fare, but for the most part, these are simple places. The best deals are usually by the pitcher, or coming early for happy hour. Don't be surprised if locals strike up a conversation, and if that's not your style, try sitting inside, or where more elaborate food is served, as this is where the atmosphere tends to be a little more sedate.
