Try the (seldom found) vegetarian chorrillana for an authentic Chilean treat that anyone can enjoy.
Description:
Saint Patrick's Day is not strictly an Irish bar. That is to say that it's painted with Irish themed clovers and green, and has Irish jerseys hanging on the walls, but you are unlikely to find any actual Irish servers here, and the food selection is not Irish either.
However, this bar on Avda. Cumming (near the Cumming, Los Heroes and Republica metros) has a cozy atmosphere, plentiful pre-drink spicy popcorn, a very decent beer selection, and giant portions of well-prepared food that Chileans will recognize as some of their favorites.
Among the beer selections are the Irish, the accoladed and the just downright silly. For Irish, they've got Guinness on tap, served with a frothy head. Some award-winning beers served there are the Belgian Delirium Tremens, and for the Simpson's lovers out there, they also serve Homer's favorite, Duff beer.
The food is Chilean-inspired, including a host of different types of chorrillanas. A chorrillana is a plate of fries with stewed onions and meat served on top, but at Saint Patrick's Day, they serve several versions, including one with sweet and sour pork, and a vegetarian option.
The bar itself is cozy, with several different seating areas, but parts of it can get smoky late at night and in the winter when they keep the door closed.
